Keely Fraser, CIS nutrition specialist, says:
“Colder weather and shorter days are upon us and cold and flu season will soon be at its peak. During the winter months many of us will experience a real slump in energy and seek out natural ways to help boost immunity and ward off illness. While regular exercise, frequent hand washing and getting enough sleep, remain the best ways to stay healthy, proper nutrition also plays a very important role.
One of the best ways to stay healthy during the winter months is to have balanced meals, which include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants, which give some additional immunity against colds. Sweet potato, carrots, broccoli, spinach, beets, berries, mangos, cherries, and oranges are all great choices!”
